Start Thinking about the Spring Real Estate Market!

Posted on: February 25, 2013

The spring real estate market is traditionally the busiest time of year for people who are buying or selling their homes. This year looks to be no exception – preliminary estimates for this year’s spring real estate market predict that things should continue to improve! In fact, depending on who you ask, some people may say that the spring market is already in full swing – some people say that the spring market starts as early as January or February. So what should you be thinking about for this year’s spring market?

If You’re Buying…

If you’re planning to buy a home in this year’s spring market:

  • Have your financing in place

Get pre-approved for a mortgage so you know how much you can qualify for, and to sweeten the pot for your sellers when you’re ready to make an offer.

If You’re Selling…

If you’re planning to sell a home in this year’s spring market:

  • Wrap up any home improvement projects

Get your last-minute home improvement projects wrapped up ASAP to have your home ready for the spring market. Make sure everything is looking good so your home will show well.

  • Work with a good agent

Working with a good agent can take most of the hassle out of the home selling process. Ideally, you’ll already be working with an agent if you want to get your home on the spring market – but if you’re not, make it a priority.

  • Be patient

Don’t assume when you get your first offer that it’s a done deal. Offers don’t always work out. Be patient as you move through the home sale process – it’ll happen when it happens, but getting impatient will only make
